1. Introduction
WAWE is a free meal planning app developed by Opalno, a software company based in the Netherlands. WAWE helps you plan weekly meals, discover recipes, generate shopping lists, and decide what to cook — all without creating an account.
This Privacy Policy explains what data WAWE collects, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We believe in transparency and minimal data collection. WAWE is designed to work primarily on your device, and we only collect what is necessary to keep the app free and to improve the experience.
Opalno is the data controller for the processing described in this policy. We are subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as an EU-based company.
2. Data We Collect
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers:
- Recipe data and your saved recipes
- Weekly meal plans
- Shopping lists
- User preferences and app settings
- Quiz answers and taste profile
This data stays on your device. There is no cloud sync, no user accounts, and no way for us to access this data. Deleting the app removes all local data.
Anonymous Analytics (Supabase)
We collect anonymous usage data to understand how people use WAWE and to improve the app. This data cannot identify you personally:
- App events (screen views, recipe views, quiz completion)
- App version and platform (iOS/Android)
- Session data (app opens, session duration)
- Device type and OS version
No user accounts are involved. No personal meal data is sent. Analytics are processed through Supabase, hosted on EU servers.
Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
WAWE is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. When you consent to personalized advertising, AdMob may collect:
- Device identifiers (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
- IP address (anonymized by Google)
- Device type and operating system version
WAWE uses the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to request your consent before collecting any advertising data, as required by GDPR. You can choose non-personalized ads or withdraw consent at any time through the consent dialog in the app.
3. How We Use Data

4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the GDPR, we process data based on the following legal grounds:

Personalized advertising through Google AdMob. You are asked for explicit consent via the Google UMP consent dialog before any advertising data is collected. You can withdraw consent at any time. - Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)
Anonymous analytics to improve app quality and stability. We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our app is used. This data is fully anonymous and poses minimal risk to your privacy.

WAWE uses the following third-party services:
Google AdMob
Ad network used to display advertisements. Subject to your consent for personalized ads. Google processes data as an independent controller for personalized ads, and as a processor for non-personalized ads.

8. Children's Privacy
WAWE is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@opalno.com and we will promptly delete it.

- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- Analytics infrastructure is hosted in the EU (Supabase)
